In December of 2020, our illustrious, long-term President, Don McLamb, stepped down after more than 10 years of leading our club. Not only did he lead our club successfully, but for years took on the huge task of running our annual show, Parade of Gems. He chaired board meetings and our general meetings, and in his spare time, taught opal cutting! This energy bunny has decided its time to pass the torch and simply enjoy being a member of Canaveral Mineral & Gem Society...but hopefully he'll still teach. (He can't sit still, he has promised to help those filling his shoes!) Thanks Don for years of running this club in such a firm, orderly fashion!
NEVER FEAR...MELISSA'S HERE! At our November 2020 meeting, Melissa Horan was elected President. As a long term, active member of our club, like Don, she wears several hats. She teaches casting. She successfully leads our annual Dolly's Picnic auction, wringing every last cent out of members, bidding on items to raise money for the club. At our monthly meeting she runs our raffle, which raises money to send members to SFMS classes. Melissa encouraging everyone to buy "the winning ticket" for donated prizes. Watch out world...Melissa's at the helm!
