We are an educational club comprised of a group of friendly people of all ages and experience who enjoy various aspects of the hobby of lapidary arts. Wikipedia says we are "artists or artisans who form stone, mineral, gemstones and other suitable durable materials (amber, shell, jet, pearl, opal, coral, horn and bone, glass and other synthetics) into decorative items such as engraved gems, cameos or cabochons, and faceted designs".
Our club is located in Melbourne, Florida where our members have use of a wonderful fully-equipped workshop and attend monthly meetings with various topics of interest regarding gems, minerals and jewelry creation. We hold an annual Parade of Gems show at the Melbourne Auditorium where you can purchase finished jewelry, items to make jewelry, including stones (rough and finished), findings, beads, etc. Members and non-members participate in this show. Our members hold an annual picnic with an auction and tailgate sales, an annual open house, and an annual holiday party for members and their families. We love this hobby of ours and enjoy sharing our knowledge and wares. |
