SILVERSMITHING

Silversmithing - Ring
Description: This is an introductory class on jewelry fabrication with sterling silver sheet and wire. The class teaches the basic fabrication of a bezel cup, a wire shank or bail, assembly of the ring or pendant, and setting of a cabochon type stone. Students will also learn
  • the proper way to use a jewelry torch to solder as well as torch safety,
  • to use a jewelry saw, how to select the proper saw blade, and body mechanics,
  • best methods of finishing a piece, including mirror finishing and polishing

Each student will complete a ring or pendant.


Materials: Students are encouraged to bring their own silver. Silver kits may be available from the instructor at cost for those who do not have their own silver.  Tools will be provided for class use.


Prerequisite: none
Fee: $35 plus materials which run close to $100+ with the current cost of silver
Duration: 4 Weeks
